PROGRAMS

VISUAL ARTS

TMS students receive an enriched Visual Arts program that is on a par with leading Arts schools.  The TMS Arts program teaches students that there is more to art than knowing how to draw—it’s about learning to see, feel and think.

The Visual Arts program encourages students to become confident and independent thinkers, while instilling them with a sense of culture.  Art is often integrated with other areas such as drama, music, and core subjects to provide a more holistic approach to learning.

At TMS, the Visual Art program is Fine Art based.  We teach art history, technique, critical thinking, and encourage creativity and risk taking.  Students are assessed on their effort, process and personal progress.  Students are engaged in both individual and group projects/murals, and are given opportunities to work with materials such as plaster, clay, and wood.

Through the Visual Arts, students learn that personal expression is important and valued, and that we all have different views that are equally relevant.  When comparing a Picasso to a Da Vinci, they learn not that one is better than the other: only that they are different from one another and that each has in the eyes of the beholder its own meaning and beauty.
